National Library Week

Welcome to SCDL's Tree Talk Tuesdays! This week is National Library Week here at SCDL and we are focusing on learning about some of the services available at the library. So without further ado, lets talk a moment about the Genealogy Department.

Did you know that the library maintains a department where you can learn  more about the history of your family as well as your town? We do! Located on the upper level, the Genealogy Department is open the same hours as the Main Library. Our collection consists of local sources including Stark County Courthouse records, local histories, newspapers, census, and much more. We collect on the entire state of Ohio, as well as, selected records for the District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusettes, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

In addtion, we have trained staff members who are able to assist you in your family history research. If you are unable to visit in person, you may also write or e-mail us by using our convienent online request forms.

In future Tree Talk Tuesday posts, we will be discussing more in depth about research resources available to you, as well as other items of interest in the world of Genealogy. Until next Tuesday, have a great week!
